Laser Focus for Texas Center for Proton Therapy

Proton therapy has shown benefit for the treatment of cancers and tumors of the brain, head and neck, lung, breast, lymphoma, liver and prostate. Philip Durst: From Months to Live to Living His Dream

Almost two years after being diagnosed with stage IV metastatic melanoma and given 4-6 months to live, Philip Durst calls himself the “luckiest cancer victim alive.” At the recommendation of Dr. Jeff Yorio, medical oncologist at Texas Oncology–Austin Central, Durst joined a clinical trial combining two immunotherapy drugs that had not previously been approved for use together – allowing him to be present and healthy for the birth of his granddaughter. Today, he has no metastatic activity.
