Major Cancer Center Planned for San Antonio's Medical Center Area

Texas Oncology announced plans to build a new cancer center in San Antonio to replace the existing center on Medical Drive. The new facility will have seven procedure rooms, eight lab rooms, 52 chemotherapy chairs, and more than 30 exam rooms to treat approximately 300 patients per day.

Critical Blood Cancer Treatment Now Available in Austin

After being diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer, Ryan Smith needed an allogeneic stem cell transplant, a procedure that removes all stem cells from the bone marrow and replaces them with healthy donor stem cells. Dr. Ryan Tierney of Texas Oncology−South Austin and Dr. Ramakrishnan the Texas Transplant Institute at St. David’s South worked together to preform the procedure which, up until that point, had never been done in Austin before.

Lynn Chaloupek is a Texas Oncology—Fort Worth 12th Avenue patient whose history with cancer dates back to 2001 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, followed by colon cancer in 2003, then breast cancer in 2009, which recently metastasized to her liver and arm. She has been receiving care at Texas Oncology since 2012.
