Kate Bowen, JD

General Counsel

Kate Bowen, JD, is general counsel of Texas Oncology, responsible for all legal matters impacting the practice, including contracts, input on regulatory compliance, supporting public policy initiatives, and litigation matters. Ms. Bowen is board certified in health law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Ms. Bowen received her Bachelor of Science degree in international economics from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and her law degree from Southern Methodist University Law School, now the Dedman School of Law, in Dallas, Texas. Prior to law school, she worked in a variety of administrative roles at hospitals in Texas and Florida.

Ms. Bowen began her legal career in private practice at Jenkens & Gilchrist, in their health law section, followed by in-house positions with Tenet Healthcare and Aetna. In 2001, she became lead regulatory counsel at The US Oncology Network and joined Texas Oncology in 2018.

She received the 2012 General Counsel’s award for distinguished legal services at McKesson Specialty Health and was a finalist in the 2013 General Counsel awards presented by the International Legal Alliance Summit & Awards. She is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the health law section of the Texas Bar Association.
