Over 100 Texans have become sick with measles recently. To protect our patients and staff, we ask that patients and caregivers avoid coming in to our clinics if they have been near someone with measles, have been diagnosed with measles, or have any symptoms of infection like a fever or a rash. If any of these apply to you and you have a visit booked, please contact your clinic to let them know and book a virtual visit (telehealth) instead. Diagnosed With Cancer? A Patient’s Guide to Creating a Cancer Game Plan

September 13, 2023

A cancer diagnosis requires joint decision-making between a patient and their care team. Texas Oncology recognizes the significance of patient engagement and advocates for each patient’s active communication of preferences, values, and wishes at each stage of their cancer journey.

To effectively participate in their care, patients are encouraged to take an active role in the decision-making process. By expressing goals and concerns, patients work collaboratively with their care team to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with their own unique needs and desires. This relationship not only strengthens the bond between patient and care team, but also enriches the quality of care delivered.

Educating oneself about the diagnosis and treatment options can be empowering. Understanding the disease and available therapies can help patients make well-informed decisions and actively participate in the healing process.

Through open communication, active engagement, and building meaningful partnerships, patients can enhance their overall well-being and work towards the best possible outcome in their fight against cancer.
