Welcome Dr. Haotong Wang to Texas Oncology–Cedar Park and Marble Falls

September 01, 2022

Haotong Wang, M.D., hematologist and medical oncologist, is now seeing patients at Texas Oncology–Cedar Park and Marble Falls. Dr. Wang shares what excites her about joining Texas Oncology and how she would use time travel to help cancer patients of the past, present, and future.

What excites you most about joining an organization like Texas Oncology?

Texas Oncology is unique because it provides patients with leading-edge treatments, multidisciplinary teams, and innovative clinical trials, and it is accessible to nearly every region in Texas. The practice attracts top-tier physicians from across the nation and places a strong importance on creating a supportive work environment.

What would you like your legacy as a physician to be?

I would love to be known for being compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to giving the best quality of cancer care. I want my patients to know me not only as their physician, but someone who cares about them and their loved ones outside of their diagnosis.

What inspired you to specialize in cancer care?

I have had several family members diagnosed with breast cancer who have gone through treatment. The combination of my family history and the revolutionary advancements in treatment over the last two decades inspired me to specialize in cancer care. I cannot think of another field in medicine that is as evolving as oncology. We live in an era of medical breakthroughs, and I could not be more excited to be a part of changing patients’ lives.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Time travel is probably at the top of my list. The ability to bring what we know now to help patients from the past, as well as harnessing future technology to help people in the present is hard to resist.

If you weren’t a doctor, what would you be?

If I was not a doctor, I would be an artist. I am a big fan of all forms of art and love being creative. I actually paint my own canvases and spend my free time decorating my house.

What is your favorite thing to do in Cedar Park or Marble Falls?

There are so many things to do in the area, but my favorite has to be spending a day on the lake. As the saying goes, life is better at the lake. This is where I find peace of mind and decompress.

What is the number one item on your bucket list you’d like to achieve this year?

I would love to complete a centerpiece painting. I started this large canvas last year, but having a newborn baby completely put this bucket list item on hold. My goal is to have it completed before the holidays this year to show off to my family and friends.
