Cancer Mortality Rates Reach Record Low

Monique Spillman, M.D., Ph.D., FACOG, of Texas Oncology–Abilene discusses the largest ever one-year drop in the cancer mortality rate on KTAB-TV’s 4U. Dr. Spillman analyzes the factors behind the dramatic decrease, including prevention, early detection, and drug improvements. Dr. Spillman also touches on a few of the reasons why patients are living longer with cancer, and how societal changes, like tobacco use, also contributed to decreased mortality rates.
