A new Texas law delays the requirement for physicians and pharmacists to check the prescription drug monitoring program to March 2020. Debra Patt, M.D., MPH, MBA, medical oncologist and executive vice president at Texas Oncology, says the Texas Legislature found a balance in addressing opioid misuse concerns, and she hopes to see further integration to make the process with electronic health records more seamless for physicians.
