Over 100 Texans have become sick with measles recently. To protect our patients and staff, we ask that patients and caregivers avoid coming in to our clinics if they have been near someone with measles, have been diagnosed with measles, or have any symptoms of infection like a fever or a rash. If any of these apply to you and you have a visit booked, please contact your clinic to let them know and book a virtual visit (telehealth) instead. Learn more about how to recognize measles and what you can do to stay safe. View More Important Notifications x

Diagnostics

The success of cancer treatment depends on multiple factors. Diagnostic imaging plays a substantial role in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Your patient can receive their imaging studies at their cancer center, in most cases. We commonly use:

  • Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
  • PET/CT
  • ExacTrac – an advanced imaging technology used to verify patient and tumor position at the time of treatment, allowing us to target only the tumor and spare the surrounding normal tissue.
  • Bone density screening – Offered at some locations, bone density screening is useful for detecting early signs of osteoporosis and determining rate of bone loss. Bone density screening does not contribute to cancer staging or follow-up.

The Texas Center for Interventional Surgery offers comprehensive, minimally invasive interventional services, including diagnostics.
