Patients who live outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth area may access highly specialized care from the Texas Center for Proton Therapy via Texas Oncology’s telemedicine capability. While patients would still need to travel to our center in Irving, Texas for treatment, in some cases, initial consultations and some follow-up care can be conducted via telemedicine in coordination with a local Texas Oncology physician.
Texas Center for Proton Therapy’s advanced, high resolution imaging equipment is an important tool for physicians and patients fighting cancer. In addition to initial diagnostic imaging, subsequent MRI and PET/CT scans help locate tumors and determine its exact size and shape. When the tumor shrinks as treatment progresses, physicians may use these images to modify treatment plans and reduce potentially harmful radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
