Vance Esler, M.D.

Executive Vice President-Managing Medical Director, Regional Medical Director

Vance Esler, M.D., serves as executive vice president and managing director supporting the West Texas, Gulf Coast, Central Texas, Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio regions of Texas Oncology. He also serves as regional medical director for the West region. He previously served as an area medical director in Amarillo.

Dr. Esler joined Texas Oncology in 1996 and practiced in Waco, Texas, where he specialized in medical oncology and hematology. He moved to Amarillo, Texas, in 2000 and helped establish Texas Oncology–Amarillo Cancer Center in 2006. Since he joined Texas Oncology, Dr. Esler has served on the board of directors and on numerous committees.

Throughout his career, Dr. Esler has served as a fellow and member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology. He has also co-authored scientific journal articles on hematology and stem cell transplantation.

Dr. Esler earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He completed his fellowship in hematology/oncology, and residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Esler earned a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas.
