Antonio Santillan-Gomez, M.D., MBA, FACOG

General Summary

Dr. Antonio Santillan-Gomez is board certified in gynecologic oncology and completed his fellowship training in gynecologic cancers and complex abdominal-pelvic surgeries through minimally invasive robotic-assisted laparoscopy at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

Additionally, he is an expert in cytoreductive surgery (debulking) for peritoneal malignancies, especially for ovarian cancer patients. He has been involved in more than 5,000 cases of robotic surgery making him one of the leading robotic surgeons in the field, currently the medical director of robotic surgery services at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, where he held an Intuitive Surgical Robotic Case Observation Program (Epicenter).

Research Interest

Dr. Antonio has always shown interest in other areas of the medical field, not only taking care of his patients but also collaborating with the academic and scientific world. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service, where he continues participating in clinical research and surgical device innovations. He is also a clinical faculty of the armed forces for the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Integrated Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Training Program. He is co-author of multiple peer-reviewed articles in medical journals, book chapters, abstracts and presentations.
