Lymphatics and Movement

Join us in this interactive seminar on lymphatic health and movement. The main way your body circulates lymphatic fluid through your body is through your muscles contracting and relaxing. Movement is an important component of lymphatic health.

The first part of this seminar with certified lymphedema therapist Angela Wicker-Ramos will be a discussion on:

  • What is your lymphatic system?
  • How is the lymphatic system impacted by cancer treatment?
  • How can we promote a healthy lymphatic system?
  • What role does exercise play in lymphatic health?
  • What types of exercises are safe and recommended?
  • In second half of the seminar we will put our knowledge to action!

Cancer exercise trainer and certified Pilates instructor Naomi Aaronson will lead us through a seated movement class with a focus on lymphatic circulation using her BAP technique.

Movement for Lymphatic Health Using BAP

This gentle seated movement program is based on breathing and muscle contractions that promote lymphatic drainage.Directing lymphatic fluid back towards the heart and ducts regularly and consistently will ensure a well functioning lymphatic system. We will learn how to incorporate the 3 BAP principles:

  1. B- Breathing: Emphasis upon diaphragmatic breathing
  2. A- Alignment: How the head, shoulders, hips etc. line up
  3. P- Posture: How we hold our bodies during work, play etc.

Please join us for this exciting new program designed for all to participate.

Please get cleared by your medical doctor to perform physical activity prior to attending this class. This class will assist in modifications appropriate for all levels and stages of treatment or recovery.
