DALLAS (August 30, 2022) – Following a rigorous review of multiple sites, the medically integrated pharmacies of Oncology Pharmacy Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Texas Oncology, were recently accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) with oncology distinction. ACHC is a third-party, performance-based accrediting organization that evaluates pharmacies for excellence in specialty and oncology-specific pharmacy care.
“This accreditation is a testament to the exceptional work of our team, and it underscores their commitment and dedication in helping to deliver comprehensive cancer care to our patients,” said Neal Dave, Pharm.D., executive director of pharmacy services at Texas Oncology. “Our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are integral members of our care teams, with specialized experience and deep knowledge of medications that are most frequently prescribed to cancer patients.”
As part of the accreditation process, all of Oncology Pharmacy Services’ pharmacies passed the ACHC audit, which evaluates thoroughness, patient centricity, quality, and comprehensive oncology pharmacy care.
“This accreditation is an important validation of the quality care and service that of our pharmacy team provides
patients,” said Steven Paulson, M.D., Texas Oncology president and chairman. “This achievement is
particularly gratifying since the audit took place amid challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.”
With a team of more than 70 pharmacists and 130 pharmacy technicians and support staff, Oncology Pharmacy Services fills more than 220,000 prescriptions per year.
ACHC Accreditation Programs were created in consultation with industry experts to ensure relevance, value, and integrity, as well as outstanding customer service.
