About
Michael Teneriello, M.D., FACOG, is board certified in gynecologic oncology obstetrics, and gynecology. Dr. Teneriello is a veteran of the US Navy and served during the first Gulf War. He served as an obstetrician/gynecologist at the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan and later as the director of gynecologic oncology at Walter Reed Army Medical and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
In 1996 he was recruited as the first gynecologic oncologist to join the Austin practice of Texas Oncology. As a partner of Texas Oncology, Dr. Teneriello has held numerous leadership roles and has participated in the recruitment of many specialists to the group. Currently he serves as the Chief Surgical Officer of Texas Oncology. As the chief surgeon, he has lead management responsibilities for 162 surgeons in the statewide Texas Oncology practice.
Dr. Teneriello was the chairman of the gynecologic research committee for The US Oncology Network for 12 years. He has served as a principal investigator for US Oncology Research, a lead institution in the National Cancer Institute sponsored cooperative group, NRG Oncology. He has conducted more than 50 clinical cancer trials in Austin as the national or local principal investigator and is extensively published in the field of gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Teneriello is originally from Boston and after marrying a West Texan, life changed. His active interests have included winter sports, northern New Mexico and, previously, sports cars. He now drives a pickup truck.
