Dr. William McNamara is board certified in surgery and completed his fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the nation’s premier cancer treatment institutes, under the direction of the world authorities in head and neck cancer treatment and reconstruction. He has a special interest in minimally invasive and trans-oral surgery, robotics, and salivary gland malignancy and surgery.

Research Interest

Tumors of the thyroid gland, mouth, pharynx (throat), larynx (voice box), esophagus, Zenker’s Diverticulum, and dentoalveolar structures; parathyroid adenoma; minimally invasive transoral surgery of the oropharynx and larynx; tumors of the parotid and salivary glands; benign and malignant diseases of the nasal cavity, sinuses, and skull base; skin cancers including melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and Merkel cell carcinoma; tumors of the ear canal and temporal bone; nerves and blood vessels of the neck; soft tissue sarcoma; benign and malignant diseases of the larynx and trachea.

An important goal of Dr. McNamara’s is to provide patients with advanced surgical care for head and neck cancer with an emphasis on quality of life issues, such as retaining a patient’s ability to speak and swallow and maintaining normal appearance. He works closely with highly skilled and trained plastic surgeons, radiation therapists, chemotherapists, nurses, and speech therapists to create individualized treatment plans that keep the treatment of cancer as the main goal.
