Diagnosing Gastric Cancer

Upper endoscopy

During this test, a doctor inserts an endoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a small video camera and light. This allows the doctor to see the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine. If anything looks abnormal, your doctor will conduct a biopsy.  

Biopsy

This test involves removing a small tissue sample from the abnormal area to view under the microscope for cancerous cells.
