Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery

Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery (HPB), focuses on surgical management of diseases pertaining to the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and gallbladder. While HPB cancers are rare, they can be very aggressive and usually require an integrated approach of multi-disciplinary specialty care. Incidence of HPB cancers is increasing globally. Although there have been improvements in cancer surveillance and relatively early access to therapy, most of these cancers present late when curative treatment options may be limited. With overall increase in average human life span globally, the incidence of these cancers continues to rise. HPB surgeons at Texas Oncology specialize in surgical management of these cancers and provide individualized, compassionate, multi- disciplinary care in collaboration with our medical and radiation oncologists including clinical trials.

Clinical Trials

Our practices participate in national clinical trials, and our research played a pivotal role in developing more than 100 of the latest FDA-approved cancer drugs. This allows eligible patients more treatment options while aiding the development of new treatments for cancer. Clinical trials for HPB surgery are available. A hepatobiliary surgeon can determine if one is appropriate for you.
