About
John C. Hardaway M.D., Ph.D., FACS, is board certified complex general surgical oncology and general surgery. Dr. Hardaway’s clinical practice is primarily focused on cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, including diseases of the esophagus, stomach, liver, and pancreas. However, he also treats patients with thyroid, breast, and skin/soft tissue cancers. When possible, Dr. Hardaway uses the robotic da Vinci surgery system to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures, which allow his patients to recover faster, with less pain, and with shorter hospital stays.
Before becoming a surgeon, he was trained as a cellular immunologist in medical school. Dr. Hardaway has research interests in CAR-T immunotherapy, immunotherapy for solid tumors, liver and pancreatic tumor microenvironment, and regional delivery of therapeutics. Outside of his surgical practice, Dr. Hardaway serves as an immunotherapy consultant, where he is focused on developing novel immunotherapies against solid tumors, including multiple active clinical trials.
