Travis Cox, M.D.
Medical Oncology, Hematology

About
Travis Cox, M.D., is board certified in hematology, internal medicine, and medical oncology. Dr. Cox has performed clinical research and published in the areas of myeloma, leukemia, thrombosis, and hemorrhage. From a young age, Dr. Cox knew he wanted to become a doctor with the hope to be able to cure cancer. Dr. Cox’s passion for pursuing a career in hematology and oncology stemmed from the loss of his grandfather to acute myeloid leukemia. His passion grew even stronger with the loss of his mother to the same disease. From these experiences, Dr. Cox understands the physical, emotional, and financial strain a cancer diagnosis places on the patient and their families, and the importance of taking into account the patient’s comfort and dignity. Treat the patient, not the disease. At Texas Oncology, Dr. Cox will continue to practice his philosophy in medicine, to treat his patients like family. Through his experience, he believes the art of explaining diseases and their management is meaningful. He also believes getting to know his patients as individuals helps to strengthen the bond between patient and physician.
