Raul M. Portillo, M.D., is board certified in hematology, internal medicine, and medical oncology. Dr. Raul Portillo served as clinical assistant professor at Texas Tech School of Medicine. He served as chief resident and instructor, Department of Surgery in the Division of Trauma and Emergency Room at Texas Tech School of Medicine. He was awarded the A.H. Robbins Award, Best Student, Class of 1977, at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. He was a recipient of HIH Grant to study methotrexate-folate interactions at the University of Colorado in 1985. Dr. Portillo was chief of staff at Providence Memorial Hospital in 2001.
Throughout his career, Dr. Portillo has served many roles, including as treasurer of the Southwest Association of Hispanic-American Physicians in 1993. He is a former president of the Southwest Association of Hispanic American Physicians. He served as 1990-1992 president of the American Cancer Society, El Paso Division. Dr. Portillo is a member of the El Paso County Medical Society.
