Laith Abushahin, M.D., is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. Dr. Abushahin specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies and soft tissue sarcomas. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology. He also holds membership in American Association for Cancer Research Tumor Microenvironment Working Group, American Cancer Clinical Research, and National Cancer Institute Gastrointestinal Interest Group. He served as co-leader of the pancreatic cancer multidisciplinary clinic at The Ohio State University. He focused on investigator-initiated trials in pancreatic cancer and soft tissue sarcomas.
Recognized for this clinical experience, Dr. Abushahin was named Academic Teacher of the Year at the University of Iowa. He received the Division of Medical Oncology Award for his work in pancreatic cancer research by The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Dr. Abushahin looks forward to working on the development of comprehensive sarcoma and gastrointestinal malignancy clinical trials. These can provide individualized therapy options to patients while contributing to the nation’s leading-edge cancer research.
