John S. Renshaw, M.D.

About
John S. Renshaw, M.D., is board certified in hematology, internal medicine, and medical oncology. He has a special research interest in benign and malignant hematology, including acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas, and bleeding and clotting disorders. Other research interests focus on lung, gastrointestinal, breast, and other cancers.
Prior to his undergraduate studies, he served four years active duty in the U.S. Army. He was a Russian voice interceptor in the Second Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. He served an additional 16 years as a physician in the United States Air Force. Dr. Renshaw served as medical director of bone marrow transplant services at Wilford Hall Medical Center and San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC). He also served as the training program director for the hematology oncology fellowship program at SAMMC.
Dr. Renshaw was deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He served as an intensivist in the intensive care unit at Bagram Air Base, the largest joint operations theater hospital in Afghanistan. Dr. Renshaw cared for numerous people with severe illnesses and combat-related injuries. Prior to retiring from the military, he reached the rank of lieutenant colonel.
