John K. O'Connor, M.D.

John K. O'Connor, M.D., is board certified in radiation oncology. Dr. O'Connor practices adult and pediatric radiation oncology and sub-specializes in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy. He has performed more than1,000 radiosurgical procedures throughout the brain and body utilizing CyberKnife®, Gamma Knife®, and linear accelerator-based platforms. He has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings discussing his radiosurgery expertise. He is currently medical director of the Medical City CyberKnife Center. Prior to joining Texas Oncology, Dr. O'Connor served as medical director of radiosurgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and assistant professor at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

Dr. O'Connor has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles correlating breast cancer molecular markers with survival in patients treated with radiation therapy. Other topics include intraoperative radiation therapy, the management of gastrointestinal malignancies, the treatment of prostate cancer, and the effectiveness and safety of radiosurgery treating severe pain. Dr. O'Connor has given oral presentations on his research at numerous scientific meetings, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, Radiologic Society of North America, International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society Congress, International Liver Transplant Society, American Radium Society, and World Congress of the International Hepato-Pancreato Biliary Association.
