James Zhu, M.D., Ph.D.

James Zhu, M.D., Ph.D., is board certified in radiation oncology. During his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Florida, Dr. Zhu received rigorous training in all modern radiation modalities. An established researcher, his work is published in multiple peer-reviewed medical and engineering journals and presented at many national and international conferences. He was a chief resident and honored with the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Roentgen Resident Research Award. Dr. Zhu has a broad-based practice that includes gynecological, prostate, breast, head and neck, lung, lymphoma, adult central nervous system (CNS), and other intrathoracic or intra-abdominal malignancies.

As a patient advocate, Dr. Zhu is dedicated to personalized cancer care, which integrates and tailors leading-edge technologies in cancer medicine. His interest in bringing the newest medical technology to cancer patients stems from his extensive engineering and medical background. Dr. Zhu wanted to bring his passion in patient care and technology together, which was fulfilled in his career in radiation oncology. He joined Texas Oncology because of its vision to bring exceptional cancer treatment to local communities, and its patient-centered, evidence-based treatment.
