General Summary
From a young age, Dr. Cox knew he wanted to become a doctor with the hope to be able to cure cancer. Dr. Cox’s passion for pursuing a career in hematology and oncology stemmed from the loss of his grandfather to acute myeloid leukemia, a passion which would grow even stronger with the loss of his mother to the same disease. From these experiences, Dr. Cox understands the physical, emotional, and financial strain a cancer diagnosis places on the patient and their families, and the importance of taking into account the patient’s comfort and dignity.
Treat the patient, not the disease. At Texas Oncology, Dr. Cox will continue to practice his philosophy in medicine, to treat his patients like family. Through his experience, he believes the art of explaining diseases and their management in a meaningful manner as well as getting to know his patients as an individual helps to strengthen the bond between patient and physician.
