Dr. Forero grew up in Bogota, Colombia and received his medical degree from Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Senora del Rosario University. He served as research fellow in Immunology and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine in Dallas at UT Southwestern Medical School and St. Paul University Hospital. He trained as a Medical Oncologist with emphasis in Developmental Therapeutics (Phase I clinical trials) at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Forero has presented, authored and co-authored a number of scientific articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and scientific meetings.

 Dr. Forero was the recipient of the 2003 Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is a member of the clinical faculty of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech - Amarillo.

Research Interest

Dr. Leonardo Forero's special areas of interest include lung, breast, gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers. Dr. Forero has extensive experience in clinical research. He is the primary investigator for most of the clinical trials conducted at Texas Oncology-Amarillo.
