Texas Oncology adds to pediatric hematology-oncology services in Tyler

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Texas Oncology is increasing its pediatric hematology-oncology services in Tyler.

“This has been an area that has traditionally been quite underserved,” said pediatric hematologist and oncologist at Texas Oncology Dr. Matthew Fletcher, adding that local residents often travel to Dallas or Shreveport for certain pediatric appointments. “We want to bring that care closer to home,” he said.

Fletcher added that many families often travel more than once for an appointment, which can add up financially.

The Tyler facility treats anemia, bone tumors, leukemia, and more. Fletcher said Texas Oncology is offering “the full spectrum” of pediatric hematology and oncology treatments in Tyler.

Texas Oncology’s medical service expansion comes at the same time as UT Health East Texas is building a new facility in the Rose City.
