Debra Patt, M.D., Ph.D., MBA, Executive Vice President, Public Policy, Payer Relations, and Strategic Initiatives at Texas Oncology, discussed how in the aftermath of COVID-19, community oncology practices heightened their outreach efforts to entice patients back in for cancer screenings and the importance of thinking outside the box to overcome staffing shortages in the oncology space. Dr. Patt also addressed current challenges to healthcare infrastructure and stated, in her practice, she has tried to staff creatively and look at virtual care positions and alternative staffing models to ensure jobs are attractive to employees.
