Dr. Akins comes to Texas Oncology from San Antonio, Texas, where he served in the United States Air Force and separated with an Honorable Discharge. Having personally witnessed the struggles and turmoil of cancer in multiple family members, his approach to cancer care is multifaceted consisting of empathy, patient understanding, proactive patient focused care and patient comfort. In his free time, he enjoys water sports, snow skiing, cooking, and spending time with his family. Dr. Akins is married to Chessa Akins and they have four children.
