About
Andrew K. Lee, M.D., MPH, is a board-certified radiation oncologist and serves as the Medical Director of the Texas Center for Proton Therapy. He specializes in the treatment of prostate and other genitourinary cancers and is internationally recognized for his leadership in proton therapy, particularly for prostate cancer. Dr. Lee has contributed extensively to the field through more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters focused on prostate cancer and proton therapy.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Lee was a Professor of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he served on the faculty for nearly 14 years. In 2006, he played a pivotal role in launching MD Anderson’s Proton Therapy Center, serving as its founding Medical Director and Director of the Program for Advanced Technology. Notably, Dr. Lee was the first physician in North America to treat patients using pencil-beam scanning—the most advanced form of proton therapy—offering enhanced precision in targeting tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.
