Overview
About
Melissa Kinney, M.D., FACS, is board certified in general surgery. Becoming a breast surgeon was not just a career decision – it was a calling. Dr. Kinney was drawn to the combination of technical surgical skill and the opportunity to guide patients through complex, life-altering decisions. Breast cancer care allows her to make a direct, lasting impact by helping people navigate their diagnosis with clarity and confidence.
The most rewarding part of her work is guiding people with cancer through one of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives. It is an honor to be a steady presence when fear and uncertainty are at their highest. Offering hope, clarity, and sound guidance – while helping people with cancer make informed decisions – makes this work deeply meaningful. Being able to give encouragement and walk with them step-by-step brings fulfillment that goes beyond the operating room.
Dr. Kinney’s approach to patient care is highly personalized, collaborative, and rooted in both compassion and evidence-based medicine. She works with each person to tailor a treatment plan that reflects their values, preferences, and life circumstances. For those who desire it, she offers spiritual support – including prayer before surgery – as part of a holistic view of care. She strives to ensure every person feels well-informed, supported, and empowered throughout their journey.
