Joseph D. Heyne, M.D., is a breast surgical oncologist who has been treating benign and malignant diseases of the breast in Fort Worth since 2009.
A Southlake native, he received an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Dallas and studied biomedical ethics abroad in Liechtenstein. He obtained his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. After finishing a residency in general surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, he completed his training at the Komen/ UT Southwestern Medical Center Breast Fellowship Program in Dallas. Dr. Heyne is board-certified in General Surgery.
“I became a physician to combat human suffering with my head and my hands. Surgery allows me to effect healing in a very tangible way.”
Dr. Heyne decided to pursue a career in breast surgical oncology after training for several months at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. “As the most common female malignancy, breast cancer has little respect for age, race or socioeconomic status. My goal is to give women and men the upper hand in fighting this disease.”
Outside of his practice, Dr. Heyne enjoys art, literature, rugby football, and classical guitar. He relishes attending large family gatherings with his wife and three children.
