When Erika learned that she would need radiation for her MALT lymphoma diagnosis, her doctor referred her to proton therapy. "I was very happy to know that there was an option for me that could minimize damage to my brain and spine," she recalls. “The opportunity to have a wonderful quality of life and enjoy more quality time with my family meant the world to me.”

The diagnosis

Beyond appointments, scans, and treatments, Erika enjoys tending to her plants, going on walks, listening to music, watching movies, and reading. She enjoyed her hobbies throughout treatment, which provided joy and normalcy in her life. “The prospect of targeted treatment and advanced technology offered reassurance and a beacon of hope,” said Erika. “It was a little intimidating at first but gave me and my family hope of healing without pain during treatment.”
