Overview
About
Katrina E. Birdwell, M.D., FACS, is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Birdwell specializes in multi-disciplinary delivery of breast cancer care, with oncoplastic techniques to achieve optimal cosmetic outcomes. She closely coordinates with medical and radiation oncologists and reconstructive surgeons to provide comprehensive breast cancer care. Often office visits with more than one specialist are coordinated to achieve patient-centered care in a timely fashion. She feels like surgery picked her, more than she picked surgery. The surgery rotation in medical school was a completely engaging time, far surpassing other rotations.
Her patient care approach focuses on meeting you where you are and helping you choose the best path for you. This is accomplished through empathy, teamwork, attention to detail and respecting your unique attributes. Many people have more than one option for effective treatment. Supporting you and collaborating with other members of the team helps achieve a patient-centered outcome. Being present for both tear-filled and joy-filled moments with you and your family is deeply rewarding.
Dr. Birdwell is a prayerful and spiritual person, deeply rooted in her Catholic Christian faith. Big family gatherings with too much food and more than enough love are her most favorite days.
