An Important Message about COVID-19 Vaccines

January 08, 2021

Texas Oncology concurs with leading infectious disease experts in recommending that all people be vaccinated against COVID-19, including patients with cancer. We strongly encourage our patients to get the vaccine if it is available to them.

Texas Oncology is not providing COVID-19 vaccines to patients at this time. We recommend you contact your local pharmacies and doctors that are providing the vaccine to schedule your vaccination.

Regardless of where you receive it, patients should talk with their physician about their individual treatment regimen and the vaccine.

We have received an allocation of vaccine doses at several of our locations. Per state guidelines, we are prioritizing our staff for this initial allocation. While we do not know when, we expect vaccine supplies will increase in coming weeks, allowing us to provide vaccines to our patients in the future. The vaccines distribution situation is rapidly changing. We will post updated information on www.texasoncology.com and on our social media channels. We will communicate directly to patients via patient portal messages.

Texas Oncology offices are open and patients are being seen. Our comprehensive safety protocols remain in effect, including requiring face masks, limiting or prohibiting visitors at our locations, patient screening, social distancing, and expanded use of telemedicine.

For information on where to get the vaccine, please visit www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus.
