Texas Oncology–San Antonio Medical Center Welcomes Dr. Jennifer Lee

January 17, 2020

Jennifer Lee, M.D., radiation oncologist, is now seeing patients at Texas Oncology-San Antonio Medical Center. Learn more about how Dr. Lee provides a personal touch for her patients.

What excites you about joining an organization like Texas Oncology?

After being here just a few short weeks, I have been amazed by the caliber of doctors that are on the team. At our location in the medical center, we have a true multidisciplinary approach as all specialties are under one roof allowing for great discussions and continuity of care. I am excited to bring a new perspective to the group and help us to grow and keep making strides to give the best patient care.

What are you most looking forward to as cancer treatment continues to evolve?

I believe in improving patients’ quality of life. As medical technology improves, we can give the same level of care with fewer impacts on our patients’ daily lives, such as treating patients in less time and with fewer side effects.

What has working with cancer patients over the course of your career taught you about resiliency in the human spirit?

Our patients are some of the strongest people I have ever met. I have seen lawyers still taking cases between their treatments and teachers coming after a long day of work to receive radiation therapy. I had a patient running a half-marathon while undergoing treatment. While working in Africa, patients would walk for days to come to our facility. With the level of pain and emotional turmoil our patients face, it is truly inspiring to see this.

What is the most important thing you want your patients to know about you?

I joined the medical field because of the profound impact some of my doctors had on me while growing up. My favorite doctors were the ones who truly listened to me and worked with me to formulate a plan for my care. That is what I hope to be for my patients – a partner, friend, advocate, and healer.
