Texas Oncology Opens New Ultra-Modern Comprehensive Cancer Center in Fort Worth

New medical district facility offers enhanced convenience to patients needing cancer treatment

Texas Oncology announced today the opening of a new, comprehensive cancer center in the heart of Fort Worth’s medical district. Texas Oncology–Fort Worth Cancer Center will offer patients greater convenience with access to medical, gynecologic, and radiation oncology services, all at one location.

"This expansion and significant enhancement in our facilities is an important advancement in cancer treatment capabilities in Fort Worth,” said Dr. Robert Ruxer, medical oncologist and regional medical director, Texas Oncology–Fort Worth. “Texas Oncology’s focus is delivering high quality, innovative care to patients without compromise. Our new center is not only designed for optimal patient convenience, but also offers a welcoming and calming setting."

Texas Oncology occupies three of the four floors of the new 100,000 square foot building at 500 South Henderson Street, developed by Cambridge Holdings, Inc. The project includes an adjacent parking garage with free parking for patients and caregivers. With construction of the larger center concluded this summer, Texas Oncology followed through on plans to consolidate three separate facilities. The open concept design of the new center expands physician exam and treatment room capacity by more than 50 percent. The center also includes expanded radiation and infusion treatment areas, a covered pull-through drive for easy patient access and valet parking services, and a beautiful outdoor courtyard.

"Undergoing cancer treatment is challenging in many ways for our patients, so the atmosphere here matters greatly. We believe in delivering the best that medical science offers to our patients, but always with a personal and compassionate approach,” said Dr. Jerry Barker, Jr., radiation oncologist. “This beautiful new center reflects our commitment to treating the whole patient, not just their disease."

The new facility offers the same high-quality cancer treatment capabilities including medical oncology, hematology, gynecologic oncology, radiation oncology, and other specialized care. Additional services include an on-site retail pharmacy, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging suite surrounded by inviting outdoor spaces.

Texas Oncology’s growing Downtown Fort Worth practice, launched more than 30 years ago, includes an integrated team with 13 physicians, 8 advanced practice providers, and well over a 100 clinical and support staff – all connected to the powerful state-wide Texas Oncology network of more than 420 physicians. A second Forth Worth location at 6500 Harris Parkway will remain open.
