Texas Center for Proton Therapy Earns Gold Medal In 2017 American Council Of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Awards

Texas Center for Proton Therapy was awarded a gold medal in this year’s American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Texas Engineering Excellence Awards, held to honor and recognize outstanding achievements within the engineering community.

With the latest-generation proton therapy technology and one of the nation’s most experienced clinical teams, Texas Center for Proton Therapy received the Eminent Conceptor Award – the top honor in the state of Texas. After breaking ground in May 2013, the now 63,000-square-foot completed center can treat more than 100 patients per day between three treatment rooms and is the first stand-alone LEED-Certified proton therapy center in the U.S. The advanced technology at Texas Center for Proton Therapy includes pencil-beam scanning and image guided proton therapy, designed to treat tumors with extreme precision and create more hope for cancer patients.

Other projects up for consideration included the Dallas Cowboys Headquarters and Training Facility, as well as the Dallas Love Field Modernization. Last year, the Eminent Conceptor Award went to Walter P Moore & Associates for its work on the Kyle Field redevelopment project.

About Texas Center for Proton Therapy

Texas Center for Proton Therapy is the North Texas region’s first proton therapy center. The center features latest-generation technology, including pencil-beam scanning and image-guided proton therapy, providing precise radiation treatment with the opportunity to reduce side effects. Texas Oncology and The US Oncology Network, supported by McKesson Specialty Health, and Baylor Health Enterprises, an affiliate of Baylor Health Care System, collaborated to develop a proton therapy facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Opened in 2015, the facility provides advanced cancer treatment through Texas Oncology, an independent oncology practice and pioneer of community-based cancer care.
