Ronald P. Williams, M.D., Joins Texas Oncology

Texas Oncology Expands Sarcoma and Bone Cancer Services


Ronald P. Williams, M.D., a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, has joined the leading-edge cancer care team at Texas Oncology–Austin Midtown, specializing in sarcoma and orthopaedic oncology. With the addition of Dr. Williams, Texas Oncology is expanding its offerings in Central Texas to include the detection and treatment of sarcomas and bone cancers.  

Prior to joining Texas Oncology, Dr. Williams served as professor, chairman, and residency program director for the department of orthopaedics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Williams has also held a number of academic, consultancy, and surgical positions at several well-known institutions such as Brooke Army Medical Center, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital, and Methodist Children’s Hospital, all in San Antonio, and McAllen Medical Center, among others. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he served as faculty advisor for many pre and post doctoral students and authored and co-authored numerous research papers about sarcomas, bone cancers, surgical techniques, and limb salvage.  

Dr. Williams received his medical degree and doctorate in anatomy from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kan. He completed a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, he completed a post doctoral fellowship in molecular biology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Dr. Williams is board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, and International Society of Limb Salvage.
