Morris D. Groves, M.D., Joins Texas Oncology


Morris D. Groves, M.D., a board certified neurologist, has joined the leading-edge cancer care team at Texas Oncology–Austin Midtown and will lead the Texas Oncology–Austin Brain Tumor Center. With the addition of Dr. Groves, Texas Oncology will expand its offerings in Central Texas in the detection and treatment of cancers of the brain and central nervous system. 

Prior to joining Texas Oncology, Dr. Groves served as both a tenured associate professor for the department of neuro-oncology and as associate director for the Brain and Spine Center at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Groves has also authored numerous research articles and papers on brain and other types of cancer. In addition, he has served as principal investigator and co-principal investigator on dozens of important research trials and has held many academic appointments during his tenure with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  

Dr. Groves received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his residency and served as chief resident in neurology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Groves also completed his fellowship in neuro-oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, he earned a law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston.

In addition, there is a tremendous opportunity to work with the Central Texas team to further expand Texas Oncology’s research in difficult to treat cancers to find new treatment options for our patients.”

Dr. Groves is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He also is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, the Society for Neuro-Oncology, and the European Association of Neuro-Oncology.
