At-Home DNA Tests: Discussing Risks, Reliability and Differences

At-home DNA tests can help people learn about their ancestry and potential health risks. However, there are factors consumers should consider in order to properly evaluate cancer risk. Gayle Patel, M.S., CGC, director of Texas Oncology’s Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing Program, joined KVUE-TV to discuss the importance of knowing one’s family history and the differences between at-home DNA tests and genetic testing completed in a clinical setting.
