The HIPEC surgery, which delivers heated chemotherapy to the abdomen, has improved survival rates for patients with advanced cancers. Kevin Kingsbury, a patient of Dr. Rebecca Wiatrek of Texas Oncology Surgical Specialists–Austin Central, was expecting his first child when his colon cancer returned in 2017. Under Dr. Wiatrek’s care, he underwent the HIPEC procedure and is thankful for the opportunity to see his daughter grow up.
