The Ones For Wellness: Colorectal Cancer

Publication: KTVT-TV (CBS, Dallas)
03/03/2020

As part of a recurring series, “The Ones For Wellness,” CBS 11 spotlighted the story of Dallas-based colorectal cancer patient Danny Robertson. Suddenly fainting in front of colleagues led Danny to his first doctor's appointment in 30 years, during which he underwent his first colonoscopy at age 57, and was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer that had spread to his liver. His medical oncologist, Scott Paulson, M.D., of Texas Oncology–Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center, explains Danny’s case and treatment received, including chemotherapy and an immunotherapy clinical trial. Danny and Dr. Paulson urge everyone to follow screening guidelines and begin colorectal cancer screening starting at age 45 to catch cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage. Dr. Paulson also shares tips on how to limit cancer risk through diet and lifestyle changes.
