Nearly 3,100 Houston-area healthcare providers received more than $470 million in funding, but amounts vary for large hospitals systems and small practices. According to Debra Patt, M.D., PhD, MBA, medical oncologist and executive vice president at Texas Oncology, while government efforts provided quick aid to people, it created gaps in funding for pediatricians, primary care doctors, and other specialists who see fewer Medicare patients.
