Houston-area hospitals will begin phasing in more care for non-COVID-19 patients. Texas Oncology’s network of nearly 100 surgeons believes Gov. Greg Abbott’s loosening of restrictions is critical, as surgery is a vital part of cancer diagnosis and treatment for many patients. According to R. Steven Paulson, M.D., president and chairman of the board for Texas Oncology, cancer treatment cannot be paused during COVID-19, which is why the decision is so important.
