Texas Oncology Opens Support Services Suite For Cancer Patients

Publication: The Patch (North Austin-Pflugerville)

New patient support services suite serves as growth benchmark amid treatment facility's 25th anniversary in Central Texas, officials said.

AUSTIN, TX — Officials are hosting an open house this week at Texas Oncology–Austin North for a new patient support services suite, officials announced on Monday.

The specialized suite will provide services such as nutrition counseling, palliative care, physical therapy and radiation therapy for patients, according to a press advisory. Texas Oncology officials explained that effective cancer care often includes additional integrative services beyond treatment options to help patients navigate their journey from diagnosis to surviving.

To that end, officials said, the support services are a part of Texas Oncology's commitment to providing patients with comprehensive care that serves whole patient health — and not just treatment of diseases. This suite will also serve as a communal space enabling patients to build a network of support at Texas Oncology, according to the advisory.

The announcement comes at a time when Texas Oncology is celebrating its 25th year in Central Texas, and the new offering is being hailed as a benchmark of the practice's growth in the region. "What started out as one small site has grown to a network of six comprehensive cancer centers and eight additional sites of services," Texas Oncology officials wrote, adding that the new suite also exemplifies Texas Oncology's dedication to accessibility.

"Patients deserve access to the best cancer care available, the confidence to fight cancer, and the critical support of their family and friends nearby," officials said. "This approach to cancer care allows patients to receive treatment and services all in one place."
