Lalan S. Wilfong, M.D.

Executive Vice President, Quality Programs

Dr. Wilfong is a medical oncologist/hematologist who serves as the executive vice president of quality programs for Texas Oncology. He also manages value based care for Texas Oncology and is a physician liaison for value based care for McKesson Specialty Health.

His current research interest focuses on aligning quality patient care and value in a community based setting. He is the physician leader for the Oncology Care Model for Texas Oncology. Other areas of focus include improving patient/physician communications, enhancing end of life care, integrating pathways into clinical practice, and improving patient satisfaction.

He co-chairs the Value Based Physician Champion task force for The US Oncology Network. He also serves on the US Oncology Pharmacy & Therapeutics as well as the Pathways Task Force. He volunteers on the ASCO quality measures and guidelines task forces. He has been honored to receive various teaching and community service awards.

He earned his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas in 1997. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas in 2000. In 2003, Dr. Wilfong completed a fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in hematology and medical oncology. He earned a B.S. degree in mathematics at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 1993.
