Carlos P. Torres, M.D.
Radiation Oncology

About
Carlos P. Torres, M.D., is board certified in radiation oncology. He has a research interest in radiation therapy for prostate and breast cancer, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and radiobiology.
At 13, a ruptured appendix and peritonitis nearly claimed his life. The surgeon who saved him became his inspiration to pursue medicine. Witnessing people fight cancer taught him the importance of perseverance, even in the face of hardship. Dr. Torres builds deep connections with patients and their families, expressing empathy, compassion, and support during vulnerable moments.
He notes that radiation oncology complements surgery. Radiation can shrink tumors to make them operable and prevent cancer recurrence after surgery. It can also reach deep-seated tumors that would be challenging to operate on directly.
Technological advancements are transforming radiation oncology. Improved imaging tracks movement of tumors and more precisely targets treatment. Faster delivery of radiation reduces toxicity and treatment duration. Immunotherapy is having a powerful impact. Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing treatment planning and protecting critical organs.
Fascinated by technology and a love for music, he collects and repairs electronic gadgets and collects musical equipment and instruments. He enjoys cooking and is an amateur photographer. He also appreciates time with friends and family, occasionally indulging in karaoke.
