Merry Mulling Mix Shortbread
Ingredients:
Our shortbread cookies make a wonderful accompaniment to our Merry Mulling Mix. Take time to have an occasional break!
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 30 to 35 minutes total
- 1 packet Merry Mulling Mix*
- 1 cup butter, softened, plus extra for pan
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 2 ⅓ cups flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Grind the contents of mulling mix in a clean coffee or spice grinder until ingredients are powdery, discarding any small chunks that won’t grind. Preheat oven to 325oF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Stir together butter and sugar in a medium bowl. Stir in flour, salt, and mulling spices. Finish mixing with your hands to incorporate all ingredients.
Shape into 2 smooth round discs about ¾-inch thick, then place on prepared baking sheet, pressing edges to smooth. Score surface to form 8 wedges on each circle and decorate each wedge with the tines of a fork. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting.
Makes 16 cookies.
