Jesus A. Gomez, M.D., MSHA, FACP

Education

Dr. Gomez received an associate degree in Applied Science/Respiratory Therapy at El Paso Community College in 1982, a bachelor of science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, at the University of El Paso, and in 1986, his M.D. from The University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School at Houston, in Houston, Texas. Dr. Gomez completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, his medical oncology fellowship at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and his hematology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In 1998, Dr. Gomez completed his masters of science in Health Administration at Trinity University in San Antonio. Dr. Gomez has authored and co-authored many articles in peer reviewed journals.

Accolades & Memberships

Dr. Gomez is a member of the Board of Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, as well as the Board of Clinical and Applied Thrombosis, Hemostasis and Vascular Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Gomez is a Diplomat of the American Board for Hospice and Palliative Care and is a member of the American Society for Clinical Oncology. He is an associate member of the American Society of Healthcare Executives and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Gomez is the recipient of a scholarship award from the National Hispanic Scholar fund, the League of United Latin American Citizens, and was also awarded a scholarship by the Southwest Association of Hispanic-American Physicians in El Paso in 1982, 1983 and 1984. Additionally, Dr. Gomez was voted Intern of the Year in 1986 by the Department of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, named Outstanding Young Man of America in 1987, was the recipient of the American Cancer Society Clinical Fellowship Award by The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center from 1989 to 1990, received the Clifton D. Howe Fellowship Achievement Award by The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and in 1998, was the recipient of the Ted R. Sparling Award by the Department of Health Care Administration at Trinity University in San Antonio.
